Keeper of the Flame is a free concert celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Nina Simone Sculpture and the completion of the Nina Simone Plaza. Featured bands include The Firecracker Jazz band and Daryl Ryce. This is a free event and you should bring a chair, a cooler, and a friend.

- 11:30 – Presentation to Town Of Tryon of the 1767 Cherokee Boundary Treaty marker Stone bearing the Brittish Colonial Governor William Tryon's pesonal cypher.
- 12:00 – Groundbreaking ceremony for The Nina Simone Archive.
- 1:00 – Keeper of the Flame Concert: Daryle Rice, The Firecracker Jazz band, and Guests.
