HAPPY VALLEY NC – Everyone is welcome back to the farm for the 2022 Happy Valley Fiddlers Convention. The Labor Day weekend festival is a local favorite offering traditional mountain music, dancing, and fun along the banks of the historic Yadkin River. Among the fun to be had is the return of Saturday competitions with increased cash prizes.
On Saturday September 3rd, folks will take the stage to compete in eight individual competitions with a total of $2,200 for the most talented performers ($150 first, $75 second, $50 third). Categories are fiddle, twin fiddle, mandolin, guitar, banjo, open instrument, flatfoot dance, and folk song. Competition registration is open online at https://
The final category for the day will be bands. A band consists of three to seven members performing heritage tunes characteristic of the southern string band tradition and style, with acoustic instruments only. Winning band will take home $750, with second-through-sixth place also receiving cash prizes.
