Experience the joy of English country dancing from the “Playford” dances of the 17th and 18th centuries to the village dances collected during the 20th century, as well as many inventive contemporary dances in English style by choreographers from England, America, and Europe.
All dancing will be to glorious live music by Bare Necessities (Earl Gaddis, Mary Lea, Kate Barnes, & Jacqueline Schwab). Previous English country experience is required. You will love this fun weekend of great dancing, beautiful surroundings, good food, comfortable accommodations and a relaxed, friendly atmosphere. Tuition is $212 plus housing and meals in a variety of options. Some previous contra, international folk, or English Country dance experience is highly recommended for this weekend. Instructor, Kalia Kliban has been an active part of the vibrant California Bay Area traditional dance community since the mid-80s. She performs, dances, and teaches morris, longsword, English and American clogging, English country dance, and contra, and she is known for a relaxed, welcoming calling style and clear and concise teaching. Kalia has taught and called at camps and events across the country.
