Located in the Appalachian Mountains of Western North Carolina, we are on nearly 100 acres between the townships of Trust and Luck. We are about 11 miles south of Hot Springs and 25 miles northwest of Asheville. The farm is cradled along the Tug Fork Creek and is a peaceful sanctuary with miles of Appalachian Mountain trails.
Since last year, Rare Bird has been hosting small friends and family events with outstanding musicians. In 2022 are launching our first Tiny Music Festivals (around 150 people) and an Inclusive Theatre Day Camp.
We are passionate about fostering an environment where the artists are heard and the audience can have an intimate experience with the music.
We are inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s organic architecture principles and apply them to our approach here at Rare Bird Farm. Architect David Pearson sums up Wright’s principles with the following.
“Let the design be inspired by nature and be sustainable, healthy, conserving, and diverse. Unfold, like an organism, from the seed within. Exist in the “continuous present” and “begin again and again”. Follow the flows and be flexible and adaptable. Satisfy social, physical, and spiritual needs. “Grow out of the site” and be unique. Celebrate the spirit of youth, play and surprise. Express the rhythm of music and the power of dance.
