Sunday, May 4 – Christian Harmony with the Cherokee Language Repertory Choir, 2:00 PM
We invite all singers for a unique singing event with the Cherokee Language Repertory Choir sponsored by WCU Cherokee Language Program and Cullowhee Baptist Church. This event will be a little bit different than a regular singing. For the first half of the event, we will be singing Christian Harmony tunes from a list of tunes from Cherokee traditionalist Will West Long recorded in his Cherokee language journals in 1892. We will sing each song bilingually in both English and Cherokee. (Bilingual versions will be available to all participants at the event). We will have singing school for shapes and then a workshop on Cherokee pronunciation before the singing. An early dinner will be catered courtesy of the Cherokee Language Program at WCU.
