Our festival celebrates all types of regional roots music, and each year we feature something new and exciting. From fiddle, guitar and banjo playing, to singer songwriters, blues, gospel and old time, we offer something for everyone with a different line-up each year.
The Elkin Valley Fiddlers formed as a group in 2012.
Our first gathering was held beside the Yadkin River in Crater Park. We invited several bands to come play for recreation on a Saturday afternoon. It was a chilly and wet April day, but in spite of the weather, the musicians and their fans had a great time, and the Roots Music Fest was born.
Since, we have expanded our musical talents and genres. In 2015-2016 the festival was held at Elkin Municipal Park and expanded to include food trucks, wineries and breweries.
In 2017, the festival moved to the Foothills Arts Council garden in celebration of their 40th anniversary.
After the completion of the Reeves Theater the Elkin Roots Music Fest was moved inside for the 2018 and 2019 festivals.
In 2020, the festival was cancelled due to the COVID-19 epidemic, but returned in 2021 with plans to continue indefinitely.
The 2023 Festival will be held at The Reeves Theater & Cafe.
Enjoy the festival!
