A History of Appalachian Music
Are you interested in the history and evolution of the music for which this area is so famous? Join a Parkway ranger for an evening of cultural and song study following the tracks of the original people of these hills, the Cherokee, through European and African immigration, to the present day understanding (and misunderstanding) of Appalachian Folk Music. It is sure to be an evening of fun and surprises!
Meet at the Folk Art Center at Milepost 382 in Asheville. Program will be outside on the grounds. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on. Please be aware that the Folk Art Center will not be open during the program and there are no restrooms available on site.
