Hendersonville Hoe-down – Saturday, July 13
Junior Appalachian Musicians of Henderson County Summer Fundraiser
Saturday, July 13 – 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
The Junior Appalachian Musicians of Henderson County (JAM Kids) will host their summer fundraiser on July 13th at Sky Top Orchard from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. The Hendersonville Hoe-down will be an evening of old-timey music, square dancing, a cake walk, barbeque (pre-order by July 9), and scenic mountain views.
JAM Kids of Henderson County is an after-school program for children to learn to play traditional old-time and bluegrass music. Executive Director and Educational Director, Carol Rifkin (WNCW-This Old Porch), is the instructor along with other local musicians. The children learn to play by ear in a group setting and perform throughout the region. There are currently over 40 students enrolled in the program. More information about the program and upcoming events can be found on the website at www.frenchbroadvalleymusic.org.
The JAM Kids program is fully funded by donations. All proceeds from the fundraiser go directly to help the students with:
Loaner instruments
Subsidized instruction
Tuition scholarships for financially challenged families
Musical education that teaches theory and learning by ear
Local, regional and national performance opportunities and much more!
