Saturday, December 14 – Mountain Songs in the Round – 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
4 stellar musicians will gather at the Lazy Hiker in Sylva, to swap Old Time, Folk and Bluegrass songs that celebrate the mountains where we live and to benefit the Community Table, whose mission is “to provide nutritious meals, in a welcoming environment, to our neighbors in need.”
Susan Pepper and Lee Knight (of Cullowhee) and Aaron Ratcliffe and Nora Weatherby (of Haywood and Buncombe Counties) have well over a century of music combined under their belts. Furthermore, they draw from Appalachian music traditions that date back centuries. This event will be round-robin style with a fun twist. Musicians will trade-off singing songs and provide lyrics for a number of sing-alongs on the old movie screen. Come prepared to join in the fun (participation is optional)! This event is free, but it will be a benefit for the Community Table, an organization based in Sylva, NC that provides meals as well as a food pantry to community members. The Community Table is accepting donations such as dried pinto beans, canned fruit and shelf stable milk.
Cash donations are also welcome.
