Moratock Park is named after the park’s centerpiece, the ruins of the Civil War-era Moratock Iron Furnace The iron-smelting furnace was built on the banks of the Dan River in 1843. During the Civil War, it was used to make bar iron. This is a rustic facility with picturesque views of the Dan River. The park has a shelter, restroom facilities and a ball field and provides access to the river for tubing, kayaking and canoeing. The site is suitable for meetings and receptions.
