Rickman's Store was built in 1895 and is located in Cowee-West's Mill National Historic District (designated in 2001). Thomas Rickman bought the store in 1925 and operated it for over seven decades until his death in 1994. The building was purchased in 2007 by The Land Trust for the Little Tennessee (LTLT). The Friends of Rickman's Store host an open bluegrass and old-time jam session every Saturday afternoon from late spring until December. The old store displays vintage store items and furnishings and the work of local artisans, photographers, and writers can be purchased as well. The store sometimes hosts additional mountain music performances and concerts as well, so check the store website and Friends of the Rickman Store Facebook page for details. The Store is open from April through mid December on Friday and Saturday fomr 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.
