Fiddler’s Grove Is Memorial Day Weekend
Since 1924, Fiddler’s Grove has enjoyed a long tradition of preserving old time and bluegrass music. The festival was started in 1924 by the current director’s great grandfather, H. P. Van Hoy, a teacher and fiddler, as the Union Grove Fiddler’s Convention. This convention was held every year until 1969 at the Union Grove School and was a fundraiser for the school.
Harper Van Hoy, pictured here, started Fiddler’s Grove in 1970. Now, the fourth generation of the Van Hoy family continues this historically important convention. Competitions, workshops and performance are all part of the festivities on Memorial Day weekend in Union Grove.
The fun begins at 6 PM, Friday, May 24th at the Fiddler’s Grove campground. Want to go? Find out more here. You don't have to be a musician to enjoy the weekend. The audience is a huge part of the fun!
