This 7,000-acre park, the largest recreation area on the Blue Ridge Parkway, offers a campground, hiking trails, picnic areas. It includes the picturesque Brinegar Cabin and the Caudill Family Homestead, a dramatic exhibit of isolated mountain life. Cross country skiing is allowed when the park is accessible in winter. It has gently rolling terrain and numerous trails. Use of trails is free. Year-round this area is a great place for bird-watchers to wander the trails, and wildlife abounds in this relatively untouched area.
